About us
St Clement’s Sunday Worship
Anglo-Catholic worship - “Bells and Smells” - can seem a little overwhelming experienced for the first time, but its ritual is a way of recognising the wonder of God’s presence with us during our worship and that our worship is precious and brings us close to heaven. We are are glad to welcome those of other traditions and backgrounds. All those who are members of a Christian church are welcome to receive Communion at any of our services; everyone, regardless of faith, is invited to come forward during Holy Communion to receive a blessing.
We celebrate Sung Mass (Holy Communion, the Lord's Super) every Sunday at 10.30am. During the service, we offer a Kids' Club for children 3-11 years old to enjoy learning about the Christian faith and crèche areas for babies and children with soft, quiet toys, so that people of every age can enjoy worshipping together.
Sunday Mass is followed by refreshments (tea, coffee, biscuits and - if you're lucky - cake too!) in the church vestibule, a great time to catch up with friends, and make new ones.

St Clement’s Church Building
While St Clement's Church in King Square is one of the largest and oldest buildings in the area, many people are unaware of either its rich history or that St. Clement’s is still a living Church community, welcoming people of all ages, races and backgrounds.
The building has survived two wars and enormous physical and social change in this neighbourhood, change which is still going on all around us. Here, at the heart of it, prayer has been offered for the local area and wider world for nearly two centuries and we are still busy today. When the church is open - sadly, not as much as we would like - it is a haven of peace and quiet, deeply appreciated by those who spend time here.
The building is increasingly used by local groups and organisations throughout the week as we continue to make our resources available to others and find better ways of serving the neighbourhood in Christ's name.

Inclusive Church
We at St. Clement's align ourselves with Inclusive Church, a group of congregations united around the following statement of belief:
"We believe in inclusive Church - church which does not discriminate, on any level, on grounds of economic power, gender, mental health, physical ability, race or sexuality. We believe in Church which welcomes and serves all people in the name of Jesus Christ; which is scripturally faithful; which seeks to proclaim the Gospel afresh for each generation; and which, in the power of the Holy Spirit, allows all people to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Jesus Christ."
We continue to try to live up to that vision in all we do and say.
